British synthetic fuel producer proposes SA production facility

Zero Petroleum, a British manufacturer of hydrogen-based synthetic fuels, could be commercially manufacturing from South Australia by 2026 after signing an MoU agreement with the state government to explore local investment opportunities.

The proposed commercial-scale production plant would utilise green hydrogen, renewable power, and carbon capture technologies to produce between six million and 12 million litres of carbon neutral gasoline, jet fuel and diesel fuel annually.

Zero would consider purchasing hydrogen from the state-owned renewable hydrogen production facility in Whyalla, currently being developed under the $593 million hydrogen jobs plan.
