myGovID, the federal government’s digital identity credential, will be rebranded after an audit of myGov found it was confusing for users and difficult to differentiate from the flagship digital services platform.
Funding for the proposed myGovID rebrand is contained in the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) update, which has also provided additional funding for new myGov security features.
The government has committed $11.5 million to the rebrand over the next two years, funding that the Australian Taxation Office will also use to “deliver ICT updates to enable choice of identity service provider when accessing business services”.
