No Defence accelerator missions for six months

Defence’s newly established Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) will spend at least its first six months devising problem statements and testing solutions with industry before launching its first mission early next year.

But industry is expected to be presented with its first call to arms, in the form of a challenge that will provide an additional channel for military innovation through the $3.4 billion accelerator, before the end of the month.

Interim head Emily Hilder revealed the new details on the accelerator that launched earlier this month to overhaul the country’s industry-facing defence innovation programs at an industry briefing on Monday.
