Lobby firm allegedly sought to pay Robert to help win tech contracts

A Canberra lobbying firm planned to secretly funnel money to former minister Stuart Robert for helping its clients secure lucrative government tech contracts, a company insider has alleged.

Mr Robert has previously denied any suggestion of improper involvement in the multi-million dollar procurements or with the firm Synergy 360, which is part-owned by his friend David Milo and former political fundraiser John Margerison.

In a sworn statement to a parliamentary inquiry set up to probe the procurements, the ex-husband of one of the firm’s owners alleged the company structure was changed in 2017 to give Mr Margerison a 20 per cent stake through his own business, United Marketing.
