DTA loses data sovereignty scheme duties

Responsibility for the federal government’s troubled data sovereignty scheme has been stripped from the Digital Transformation Agency in a shakeup prompted by the creation of Australia’s new cybersecurity office.

The Hosting Certification Framework (HCF) transitioned to the Department of Home Affairs at the start of the month, along with the now-decommissioned Cyber Hubs project and the Hardening Government IT initiative.

A spokesperson for Home Affairs confirmed the change to InnovationAus.com, with the department to administer the programs to support the National Office for Cyber Security that received $46.5 million in last week’s federal Budget.
