Local software giant Atlassian has unveiled plans to build the world’s tallest hybrid timber building as its new headquarters, located adjacent to Central Station within the planned multi-billion dollar Sydney Innovation and Technology Precinct.
The new headquarters will be home to 4,000 Atlassian employees when it is completed in 2025. But the wider tech precinct will house 25,000 high tech employees working in startups, scaleups, and multinational corporations.
After an extensive global search, Atlassian has chosen New York-based architects SHoP, and Australian practice BVN as the design team. The building is a groundbreaking design of timber, with a glass and steel facade, will include a mix of outdoor and indoor spaces and will use an energy-efficient approach that features natural ventilation and large planted terraces giving access to nature. It will be approximately 40 storeys high.
