A further slash of Canberra consultants and a hike on student visa fees will pay for Labor’s election promises, Treasurer Jim Chalmers revealed Monday in a release of costings a week out from the election.
The costings show Labor plans to save $6.4 billion over the next four years by reducing the government’s reliance on consultants, contractors and labour hire.
A returned Albanese government would raise another $760 million by lifting international student visa application fees by $400 to $2,000 each.
