$250m in MMI grants reach contract as others remain on hold

More than $480 million in funding through the largest stream of the former Morrison government’s flagship manufacturing grants program remains up in the air, with only five grants worth $250 million contracted a year after they were awarded.

As negotiations between the Department of Industry, Science and Resources and the largest grant recipient ceased, speculation is also growing that at least one other project linked to a grant worth tens of millions of dollars will not go ahead.

On Friday, Pure Battery Technologies revealed that a $120 million grant offered under the Collaboration stream of Modern Manufacturing Initiative had been retracted by the Industry department.
