$21m Budget boost for NSW digital ID

New South Wales’ decentralised digital identity program will forge ahead with renewed vigor after the Minns government revealed $21.4 million in new funding in the state’s Budget on Tuesday.

The funding, to be provided next financial year, comes as the government continues work on legislation to support NSW Digital ID, complementing historic federal legislation passed last month.

InnovationAus.com understands $15 million for the Digital Identity and Verifiable Credentials (DIVC) program will come from the dwindling Digital Restart Fund (DRF), with the remaining funding to be sourced elsewhere.
